Turners Falls, Massachusetts

This Master Plan for a new state park in the historic mill town of Turners Falls, Massachusetts included the renovation of 2 mill buildings, which provided a new visitor's center, community exhibit hall and museum. A restaurant, boat house, and parking areas were also planned and designed, along with extensive landscaping throughout the park. The renovation work and new designs combined to preserve the charm of Turners Falls, and to further enhance the town's beauty in this natural setting. The town was given a modern function within a historic context. In 1990 this Master Plan received a Citation for Excellence in Urban Design from The American Institute of Architects.
