Beverly Fire Station Renovation
Completed 2017 Beverly, Massachusetts
2 Dodge Street Fire Station was constructed in c. 1906. It is a masonry exterior bearing wall structure with steel interior columns and beams and wood framing. In 1950 the entire apparatus bay floor was replaced and new steel beam and columns were installed to support heavier fire engines. Over the past 66 years the concrete and beams have deteriorated.
The renovation included removing the entire floor and replacing with a new concrete floor and steel beams. The floor will be coated with an epoxy finish to prevent deterioration. Additionally the bay doors will be widened and replaces with new folding door simulated the original design.
